I am so pleased the school holidays are here now, I hate getting up for school and so does Georgina, we are definitely NOT morning girls. I love the next few weeks when we can just get up and potter around without having to be anywhere at a particular time unless we have planned a day out somewhere.
It was sunny yesterday and we all had a lovely day. Steve upgraded my phone for me so I am now trying to learn how to use the new Nokia N95, it's so much better than my Motorolla, I never got the hang of that one. My new phone has an excellent built in camera, great for snapshots when I don't have my Ixus with me. We all ate lunch at the lovely Italian restaurant in Canterbury, lovely creamy Carbonara and a salad with the most delicious dressing. Georgina is delighted with her new bike, we went over to the park together and she rode round while I flew my dragon kite. It wasn't really windy enough so it was quite hard to keep it in the air but it was fun, I would love a huge stunt kite but I know that I wouldn't get much time to fly it. I am still waiting for my bargain bike from Ebay, it's coming from Holland and I am expecting it in the next couple of days. When it arrives we plan to ride along the 'Crab and Winkle Way', a disused railway line between Whitstable and Canterbury. I'll pack a picnic and put it in the basket on the front of my bike and we'll be like the Famous Five on an adventure!
Georgina still hasn't had any birthday post as a result of the strikes, her birthday is lasting a long time this year, Disney on Thursday, birthday on Friday, meal out yesterday and today her big sister, Kelly, has taken her for her first ever horse riding lesson then they are going for lunch afterwards. We promised Kelly that we wouldn't tell Georgina where she was going which resulted in a huge diva fit this morning when I made her wear school shoes (had to be suitable with a small heel) and stretch trousers which she hates. She is convinced I am the mother from hell and by the time we finished we were all in a bad mood from the strop.
While I type this I have had a phone call on Kelly's mobile, it was Georgina. She has thoroughly enjoyed herself, she learned to trot and was good at it (she says). Her horse was called Cornflake and Kelly took some photographs.
Steve's Dad owns a few fields and keeps horses, they have a pony for Georgina to ride and a little western style saddle. It looks like this will be the main pastime for the summer holidays. Poppy and Nanny will love nothing more than kitting her out in riding gear and taking her out on her pony, it will certainly save on riding lessons!
